Why 2054?
The idea of the book came to the author during a sleepless night away from the motherland while wandering what can be done to rebuild Haiti, concretely, practically, expertly, now and for the next 25 years. For the year and a half since that sleepless night, day and night, he has researched, read, discussed, emailed, and called numerous sources, heads of state, diplomats, and development practitioners, among others, from all over the world to find the right answers to his questions. And the National Vision 2054 was born! A three-phase, 25-year plan for a reborn and prosperous Haiti.
2054: A Blueprint for Haiti's Rebirth presents a roadmap for breaking the cycle of instability and building a future worth fighting for. It's a roadmap for this generation. It’s a conversation about what's possible.
Drawing on lessons from countries that overcame conflict and adversity, along with a myriad of conversations with Haitian, American, and African experts, the book offers practical ideas on governance, economic renewal, security, education, infrastructure, leadership, and national identity. It's a call to imagine what is possible when a people choose transformation over resignation, discipline over disorder, vision over improvisation, structure over informality in governance, patriotism over treason, and sovereignty over dependence.
